Morocco's Fes Team Faces Challenges Before Championship Kickoff
As the Morocco Sport Fes team gears up for their first match in the professional championship, they are set to resume training today, September 22, 2026. The team will host Nahda Zemamra this Sunday at 6 PM, amid significant challenges due to several player absences. The coaching staff will have to navigate these limitations, especially given that multiple players have recently suffered injuries, while others are unavailable due to international commitments and personal circumstances.
The absence of defender Slimane Allouch is particularly concerning, as he sustained a severe shoulder injury during a match against Burkina Faso’s Rahimo in the preliminary round of the African Champions League. Allouch underwent successful surgery but is expected to be out of action for eight to ten weeks, depending on his recovery and rehabilitation process.
Adding to the team's woes, Diogo Kalila will miss the opening match against Nahda Zemamra due to a foot fracture sustained in the same match as Allouch. His recovery period is expected to last around three weeks, after which he will gradually resume training.
Furthermore, defender Adil Rihili will also be sidelined for the season opener, although he is expected to return to individual training at the end of the week in preparation for a gradual return to the squad in the upcoming phases.
The list of absentees does not solely consist of injured players. The team will also be without Christopher Ibay, who has joined the Congolese national team for international duties, and Narcisse Wederago, who is currently in Burkina Faso to handle some personal administrative matters, with plans to return to Fes by the end of the week.
In preparation for the new season, Morocco Fes concluded their training with a friendly match against the Royal Army, resulting in a 2-2 draw. The goals for the Fes team were scored by Anas Mahraoui and Mohamed Jawab.
