Severe Heatwave Forecasted Across Diverse Regions
The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued an orange alert warning regarding extreme heat conditions affecting multiple regions of the kingdom. This heatwave is accompanied by intermittent thunderstorms, which may occasionally result in hail and gusty winds. According to the latest report, temperatures are expected to range from 39 to 42 degrees Celsius in areas such as Taza, Berkane, Oujda-Angad, Fez, Moulay Yacoub, and Taounate on Saturday and Sunday, June 20 and 21, 2026. Furthermore, temperatures in other regions including Errachidia, Jerada, Taourirt, Figuig, Zagora, Tata, Boujdour, Oued Eddahab, Oussard, Ksarif, Boulemane, Guelmim, Assa-Zag, and Smara are projected to soar between 39 and 44 degrees Celsius from Saturday until Tuesday, June 23.
Additionally, the report indicates that local thunderstorms with rainfall amounts ranging from 20 to 30 millimeters could affect the provinces of Khénifra, El Hajeb, Ifrane, and Sefrou on Saturday, between the hours of 2 PM and 11 PM. The extreme weather conditions are likely to pose various challenges for residents, particularly in areas unaccustomed to such high temperatures.
