Severe Heatwave Warning Across Morocco
The Moroccan General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a heatwave warning, forecasting temperatures to rise between 40°C and 45°C starting today, Tuesday, and continuing until Friday in several regions of the kingdom. This alert is classified as an "orange alert" indicating a significant risk due to extreme heat conditions.
According to the meteorological department, the most affected areas are expected to include the provinces of Zagora, Tata, Smara, Assa-Zag, Boujdour, Oued Eddahab, and Ausserd, where temperatures are projected to reach between 43°C and 45°C. Additionally, similar weather patterns are anticipated in other regions, with temperatures ranging from 40°C to 43°C in the provinces of Youssoufia, Béni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Errachidia, Khénifra, Boulemane, Chichaoua, Ksarif, Taounate, Taza, Taroudant, Tinghir, Khouribga, Settat, Qalaat Sraghna, and Marrakech.
Residents are advised to take precautions to protect themselves from the heat, including staying hydrated, avoiding direct sunlight during peak hours, and being mindful of vulnerable populations such as the elderly and children.
