The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a warning regarding the anticipated severe thunderstorms and a significant heatwave affecting various regions in Morocco from Wednesday through Friday. This alert highlights the potential for thunderstorms accompanied by hail and strong winds, particularly in several provinces.
According to the meteorological bulletin, which has been categorized as an orange alert, rainfall amounts may vary between 20 and 35 millimeters. These thunderstorms are expected to impact the provinces of Ifrane, Khémisset, Figuig, Al Haouz, Marrakech, Khenifra, Boulemane, Jerada, Taroudant, and several others, primarily on Wednesday afternoon from 1 PM until 11 PM.
Unprecedented Heat Levels
In addition to the thunderstorms, a heatwave is forecasted to grip regions such as Oued Ed-Dahab, Boujdour, Assa-Zag, Smara, and Tata, with temperatures soaring between 45 and 48 degrees Celsius from Wednesday to Friday. This extreme heat poses serious health risks, and residents are advised to take necessary precautions to stay safe during this period of intense weather.
