The National Meteorology Directorate (DMN) has issued a warning regarding the imminent arrival of severe thunderstorms across various regions in Morocco. These storms are expected to bring intense rainfall, accompanied by hail and strong gusts of wind that could lift sand. The adverse weather conditions are forecasted to impact several provinces on Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to the orange alert bulletin released by the DMN, heavy rainfall is anticipated, with precipitation levels expected to range between 30 and 40 mm, commencing from Tuesday at 13:00 and lasting until Wednesday at 08:00. The provinces likely to be affected include M'diq-Fnideq, Tangier-Assilah, Ouezzane, Al Hoceïma, Larache, Fahs-Anjra, Chauen, Tétouan, Mulay Yacoub, Sefrou, Taounat, Fez, Meknes, El Hajeb, Ifrane, Sidi Slimane, Khemisset, Sidi Kacem, Beni Mellal, Azilal, Jenifra, and Al Hauz.
In addition to the heavy rainfall, strong wind gusts are expected to reach speeds between 80 and 100 km/h, particularly lifting sand on Wednesday from 12:00 to 21:00 in the provinces of Boulemane, Azilal, Uarzazat, Midelt, and Tinghir, as detailed in the DMN's statement.
