Severe Weather Conditions Expected Across Multiple Provinces
On September 14, 2026, Morocco is bracing for extreme weather conditions as the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) has issued a warning concerning high temperatures and strong winds, along with the possibility of thunderstorms and hail. These conditions are expected to affect several provinces throughout the country, creating a situation of concern for residents and authorities alike.
The DGM report highlights that temperatures will range between 40 and 44 degrees Celsius in various regions, including Fquih Ben Salah, Rehamna, Moulay Yacoub, Taounate, Ouezzane, Fès, Khémisset, Sidi Bennour, Youssoufia, Béni Mellal, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, Tata, Taroudant, Kénitra, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Khouribga, Settat, Chichaoua, El Kelaa des Sraghna, and Marrakech. An orange vigilance alert has been issued to warn the public about these dangerously high temperatures.
Additionally, the DGM forecasts that temperatures between 36 and 40 degrees Celsius will be recorded in Meknès, Guelmim, Sidi Ifni, Essaouira, Mediouna, Nouaceur, as well as in the regions surrounding the capital Rabat and Casablanca. The situation is further complicated by the prediction of wind gusts reaching speeds of 75 to 85 km/h in the Fahs-Anjra and Tanger-Assilah prefectures, increasing the risk of adverse conditions.
As for storms, heavy rainfall accompanied by the risk of hail is anticipated in provinces such as Es-Semara, Assa-Zag, Tan-Tan, and Guelmim between 5 PM and 10 PM. Residents are urged to take necessary precautions and stay updated on the latest weather reports to ensure safety during this challenging weather period.
