Severe Weather Conditions Forecasted in Marrakech
The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a severe weather alert indicating the likelihood of thunderstorms accompanied by hail, strong winds, and a heatwave in various regions of Morocco from today through Saturday. This warning is categorized under an "Orange" level of vigilance, indicating significant weather events are imminent.
According to the meteorological report, thunderstorms are expected to deliver rainfall amounts ranging from 20 to 35 millimeters, with chances of hail and gusty winds affecting the provinces and regions of Al Hoceima, Boulemane, Driouch, Rhamna, Figuig, Chichaoua, Jerada, Al Haouz, Kelaa des Sraghna, Taroudant, Marrakech, Taza, Taourirt, and Kserif. The severe weather is anticipated to begin today at 1 PM and continue until 11 PM.
Additionally, the General Directorate of Meteorology has warned of a heatwave from today through the upcoming Saturday, with temperatures expected to soar between 45 and 48 degrees Celsius in the regions of Oued Ed-Dahab, Boujdour, Assa-Zag, Smara, and Tata. Similarly, the same phenomenon is projected to persist today and tomorrow, with temperatures ranging from 42 to 45 degrees Celsius in the provinces of Laayoune, Tan-Tan, and Guelmim.
Residents and travelers in the affected areas are advised to remain cautious and stay updated on the weather conditions as these climatic challenges unfold.
