Severe Weather Forecast for Morocco
Morocco is bracing for a series of severe weather conditions as thunderstorms, hail, and extreme heat are predicted across multiple provinces from Friday through Sunday. The General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) has issued an orange-level alert, indicating the potential for hazardous weather that could impact daily life and safety.
According to the forecast, regions including Tinghir, Errachidia, Midelt, and Ouarzazate are expected to experience thunderstorms accompanied by hail and significant wind gusts. Rainfall amounts are anticipated to be between 15 and 25 millimeters, particularly from noon until 11 p.m. on Friday. In addition, Saturday will see similar weather conditions, with rainfall expected to increase to between 30 and 40 millimeters in areas such as Figuig, Jerada, Errachidia, Midelt, Boulemane, and Tinghir, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
On top of these storm warnings, temperatures are predicted to rise substantially, reaching between 38°C and 40°C in regions including Kénitra, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, and Khémisset over the weekend. In addition, strong winds, reaching speeds of 75 to 85 kilometers per hour, are expected in the Tangier-Assilah and Fahs-Anjra areas. This combination of high temperatures, precipitation, and strong winds poses a significant risk for flash flooding and other weather-related incidents.
