Major Drug Bust in Marrakech
On August 15, 2026, law enforcement officials from the judicial police in Marrakech, in close coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DST), successfully apprehended a man and a woman aged 23 and 41, respectively. They are suspected of being involved in a case related to the possession and trafficking of narcotics and psychotropic substances.
The apprehension occurred in Marrakech as the female suspect arrived on a passenger bus. A thorough search of her belongings revealed an extensive and varied cache of drugs, including 3,690 ecstasy pills, 11 kilograms of hashish, and 120 grams of cocaine. Continuous investigations led authorities to identify a second suspect linked to this criminal activity, who was also arrested in Marrakech. Upon his arrest, he was found in possession of a sum of money believed to be proceeds from these illegal activities.
Both suspects are currently undergoing judicial investigations under the supervision of the competent public prosecution office to uncover all circumstances and details surrounding this case, as well as to identify any further connections to this criminal operation. This successful operation underscores that many significant drug trafficking cases are often uncovered due to the meticulous intelligence work conducted by the DST.
It is essential to acknowledge and commend the situation, as the resources—both technical and human—available to the judicial police in Marrakech, combined with the expertise and efficiency of DST personnel, result in a genuine safeguard for the city and its residents against the scourge of drugs.
We extend our gratitude to everyone dedicated to maintaining security in Marrakech.
