Advancements in Morocco's High-Speed Rail Network
On March 13, 2026, the Moroccan National Railways Office (ONCF) announced a significant advancement in the Kénitra-Marrakech high-speed train project by initiating a tender worth 104 million dirhams for the connection of three vital electrical substations. This technical step is crucial for extending the high-speed rail line towards Marrakech, ensuring a robust and reliable power supply for the upcoming railway segment.
The ONCF, through its high-speed rail project division, is set to connect these three strategic substations to the 225 kV network of the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE). These infrastructures will be indispensable for providing continuous electrical power to the future railway line. The project is divided into three geographical zones: Benslimane, Settat, and Benguerir. In Benslimane, a 16 km line will be constructed, while aerial lines of 18 km and 19 km will be established from the electrical stations in Settat and Benguerir, respectively, to power the facilities, as reported by Médias24.
The total budget for this undertaking is estimated at 104 million dirhams excluding taxes. Selected contractors will have a total execution period of 14 months to complete these high-voltage works, which include the installation of overhead lines.
