On Monday, the judicial police of the Marrakech Security Prefecture, in coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, successfully seized a staggering total of 17,586 psychotropic pills and apprehended four individuals aged between 20 and 40 years. These arrests stemmed from suspicions regarding their involvement in drug possession and trafficking activities.
According to a security source, this operation was executed across various neighborhoods in Marrakech, leading to the arrest of the suspects caught in the act of drug possession and distribution. The thorough search and seizure operations not only uncovered the vast quantity of illicit pharmaceutical pills of various types but also resulted in the confiscation of two light vehicles believed to have been used to facilitate this criminal enterprise.
The same source further revealed that a background check on the suspects against the national police database indicated that one of them was already the subject of several national search warrants, linked to similar drug trafficking offenses. This highlights the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in combating the drug trade.
Moreover, the suspects are currently undergoing judicial investigations overseen by the relevant public prosecutor's office. This inquiry aims to uncover any potential further connections to this criminal activity, as well as to identify and apprehend any additional accomplices or participants involved in these illegal acts.
