Significant Improvement in Water Reservoirs in Marrakech-Safi Region

Recent data released on the status of reservoirs in the Marrakech-Safi region as of Friday, March 27, indicates a substantial improvement in water levels compared to the same period last year. This positive trend reflects a more favorable water situation following recent rainfall.

According to the statistics obtained by Kech24, the Hassan I reservoir has reached a filling rate of 86.72%, with a total water volume of 204.69 million cubic meters. This is a remarkable increase from only 21.20% on the same date in 2025, when the water inventory was significantly lower.

Furthermore, the Sidi Idriss reservoir has achieved a filling rate of 100%, with a total capacity of 2.45 million cubic meters, compared to 87.94% last year, indicating that it has reached its maximum storage capacity.

In terms of the Moulay Youssef reservoir, the filling rate has reached 93.01%, with an estimated volume of 132.81 million cubic meters, marking a significant improvement from 53.66% last year. Similarly, the Yacoub Mansour reservoir has recorded a filling rate of 94.00%, with a volume of 65.18 million cubic meters, up from 60.21% last year. The Lalla Takarkoust reservoir also shows impressive figures, achieving a filling rate of 94.21%, with 50.20 million cubic meters, compared to only 18.24% last year.

In this context, the Abu Al-Abbas Al-Sabti reservoir has reached a filling rate of 97.04%, with a volume of 24.10 million cubic meters, compared to 62.15% last year. Meanwhile, the Sidi Muhammad Ben Sulaiman Al-Jazouli reservoir recorded a filling rate of 89.84%, holding 13.86 million cubic meters, a slight decrease from 95.01% last year.

The Moulay Abdul Rahman reservoir has also shown positive results, with a filling rate of 97.33%, holding 62.68 million cubic meters, compared to 66.06% during the same period last year. These figures highlight a general improvement in the water situation across most reservoirs in the Marrakech-Safi region, with significant increases in filling rates compared to 2025. This enhancement is expected to alleviate pressure on water resources in the region and secure water supply needs for drinking and agricultural activities.
