Significant Rainfall Records Across Morocco Boost Agricultural Prospects

According to data from the General Directorate of Meteorology, the city of Taroudant has reported the highest rainfall level, measuring 26 mm, followed closely by the Boulemane region with 24 mm. This indicates that the recent weather systems have affected not only the mountainous areas but also the surrounding plains, showcasing a widespread impact across various regions.

The rainfall was not limited to the Souss region alone; it extended to the eastern parts of Morocco, where the town of Dabbou recorded 22 mm. Meanwhile, the Chichaoua region experienced precipitation amounting to 21 mm. In the Middle and High Atlas mountains, both Khenifra and Midelt reported equal rainfall levels of 14 mm, followed by Beni Mellal with 11 mm. Such rainfall is crucial as it directly contributes to replenishing groundwater reserves and feeding the dams in the area.

In the Atlantic and central plains, rainfall measurements varied, with 9 mm recorded in both Skhirat and Sidi Bennour, and 7 mm in the towns of Nouacer, Ifrane, and Benslimane. Additionally, the regions of Azilal, Tétouan, and Agadir received 6 mm of rain, while key cities such as Rabat, Salé, Meknes, Berrechid, Chefchaouen, and Beni Mellal experienced 5 mm of precipitation.

Light showers have also been recorded across other areas, albeit with lesser intensity. Places like Azrou, Taza, Sidi Ifni, Settat, Nador, Mohammedia, and Bouarfa saw 4 mm of rainfall. In Tiznit and Sidi Slimane, the rainfall reached 3 mm, while cities such as Oujda, Kenitra, Fez, and Casablanca reported 2 mm.

The overall rainfall summary concluded with minor measurements of 1 mm recorded in towns like Tinghir, Oukaimeden, Driouch, and Azemmour. These rainfall occurrences are particularly timely, coinciding with a critical phase of the agricultural season, which raises optimism for improved grazing conditions and the growth of autumn crops throughout the kingdom.
