Six Families Step Up to Foster Two Young Girls from Morocco and Honduras for Heart Surgery
The humanitarian organization Infancia Solidaria has made urgent appeals to find foster families for two young girls in need of critical heart surgeries. One girl, aged eight, hails from Morocco, while the other, a thirteen-year-old, is from Honduras. Both will undergo treatment at the Materno Infantil Hospital in Málaga, Spain. As of Friday, six families have expressed interest in providing a home for these children and their mothers, marking an unprecedented level of response for the organization, according to Manuel Cano, the coordinator of Infancia Solidaria.
Each of the girls will be accompanied by their respective mothers, meaning that the foster families will be welcoming two guests for approximately three months. This duration is contingent on the medical needs stemming from the surgeries and the recovery process that follows. The girls are expected to arrive in the first half of October, and they will not return to their home countries until medical professionals deem it safe.
Manuel Cano elaborated on the next steps, stating that the organization will conduct in-home interviews with each interested family to ensure they meet the necessary conditions for fostering. He emphasized that while many families display a genuine willingness to help, not all may have the resources or environment to take on such responsibility. The organization is committed to ensuring that the selected families can provide a supportive atmosphere without financial strain.
