Spanish Authorities Take Action Against Criminal Activity
In a significant move aimed at enhancing public safety, Spanish authorities have deported six Moroccan nationals with criminal backgrounds from the province of Girona back to Morocco. This decision was made following accusations against these individuals for their involvement in a range of offenses that reportedly caused considerable public concern in the communities where they resided, as stated by the National Police of Spain. The deported individuals had been active in various towns across Girona province, including notable locations such as Santa Coloma de Farners, Banyoles, Olot, and Sant Hilari Sacalm.
These six individuals, along with a seventh individual from Gambia, had amassed an alarming total of approximately 100 police and court records related to diverse criminal activities. This extensive history of offenses highlights the severity of the situation and the authorities' determination to address crime and enhance the safety of residents in these towns. The deportation operation was meticulously coordinated among several law enforcement agencies, including the provincial Aliens and Borders unit of the National Police, the Catalan police force Mossos d’Esquadra, and various local police departments. This collaboration followed the issuance of expulsion orders aimed at removing these individuals from the country.
Moreover, the operation required extensive administrative coordination with multiple official entities, including courts, consulates, the Government Delegation, and the Secretary of State for Security. Following their arrest, the deportees were transported to Madrid within 72 hours, where they were subsequently deported by air to Morocco. This decisive action underscores the commitment of Spanish authorities to maintain public order and address criminal activities effectively.
