Spain's Ongoing Battle Against Drug Trafficking

According to Spanish radio station Cadena SER, the operation took place early in the morning after a high-speed boat was spotted approximately 13 nautical miles south of Marbella. In response, several vessels were dispatched to various points along the coast to intercept the smuggling attempt. Upon reaching the discharge site, the Civil Guard found a truck containing 26 bundles of hashish, weighing a total of 1,124 kilograms, and arrested two individuals. Other patrols managed to apprehend a recreational boat in the port of Fuengirola, believed to have provided logistical support to the drug trafficking boat.

Investigators discovered five fuel containers on the recreational boat, indicating preparations for refueling at sea, a tactic known as "pitakio." This led to the arrest of a crew member, bringing the total number of arrests to three. Spanish authorities stated that the detainees face charges related to public health crimes and document forgery. The seized items included the hashish, the recreational boat, the truck used for transport, and a vehicle with altered license plates, as reported by Cadena SER.
