The **SRM Casablanca-Settat** is intensifying its preventive maintenance operations on liquid sanitation networks and infrastructure as the rainy season approaches. These interventions, conducted throughout the year, aim to ensure proper water flow, enhance network performance, and mitigate the risks of overflow during periods of heavy rainfall.

From September 2025 to the end of August 2026, the operations carried out by the **SRM** teams facilitated the **hydraulic cleaning** of over 3,167 kilometers of liquid sanitation networks, which constitutes 25% of the regional network's length, in stark contrast to just 6% in 2024 at the commencement of its activities. To ensure the sustainability of this initiative, the regional company is committed to maintaining this **cleaning rate** annually.

During this timeframe, more than 293,000 **manholes and stormwater collection structures** were manually cleaned, and approximately 38,200 tons of **waste** were removed from the networks, equivalent to the load of over 1,300 semi-trailers. Additionally, over 70 collective hydraulic cleaning campaigns were conducted by watershed.

The operations have progressively intensified: in just five months (from April to the end of August 2026), more than 1,351 kilometers of networks were cleaned, over 119,000 manholes and structures were serviced, and nearly 16,800 tons of **waste were evacuated**, which corresponds to the load of more than 580 semi-trailers. More than 36 collective campaigns were executed by watershed during this period.

These interventions are deployed across various **prefectural and provincial directions of SRM Casablanca-Settat**, including **Casa-Anfa-El Fida, Aïn Sebaâ–Hay Mohammadi, Aïn Chock-Hay Hassani, Ben M’Sick–Sidi Othmane, Mohammedia, Nouaceur, Médiouna, Benslimane, Berrechid, El Jadida, Sidi Bennour, and Settat**.

Maintenance of Infrastructure and Addressing Sensitive Points

The program also encompasses the **maintenance of stormwater collection and evacuation equipment**. In this regard, 36 critical points have been addressed through structural projects and targeted operational interventions. More than 134 maintenance and **cleaning operations for stormwater basins** were carried out during the same period, and 20 strategic structures, including **pumping stations and sumps**, underwent inspections and maintenance. Furthermore, **SRM Casablanca-Settat** ensures continuous cleaning and monitoring of 168 stormwater discharge points.

The operations conducted at the pumping stations included approximately 1,800 **hydraulic and manual cleaning interventions**, over 2,800 operations to unblock the screening baskets, 536 **pump unblocking operations**, and more than 2,600 maintenance interventions on electrical equipment, automation systems, and electromechanical installations. These efforts resulted in the evacuation of approximately 17,500 tons of waste from the pumping stations within five months.

Approximately 700 Personnel Mobilized

The **rainy season intervention plan** mobilizes 685 individuals, including 476 employees from **SRM Casablanca-Settat** and 209 subcontracted agents. This workforce comprises 59 specialized supervisors, 70 forepersons, and 556 personnel responsible for **field interventions**, maintenance, and monitoring of sensitive points. To bolster the teams and enhance their skills, the regional company has recruited 95 new qualified agents and provided 8,784 hours of training.

On the technical front, 203 **intervention equipment** units are mobilized, including 38 hydro-cleaning trucks, 13 mini hydro-cleaners, 61 pumps and motor pumps, 21 generators, 20 lifting platforms, 29 other vehicles, and 21 supplementary equipment units. The fleet has also been reinforced with the acquisition of five combined hydro-cleaners by the end of 2025. Currently, 28 combined hydro-cleaners and 25 high-flow pumps are in the process of being delivered.

The preparedness of **SRM Casablanca-Settat** also relies on regular monitoring of weather conditions, facilitated by an agreement with the General Directorate of Meteorology, enabling them to access tailored forecasts. This system is supplemented by 27 rain gauges distributed throughout the regional territory.

The operational organization is based on several **complementary structures**: the Crisis Management Center, which handles exceptional situations at the central level; crisis cells established in each provincial and prefectural direction; the Central Control Office (BCC) for network supervision and remote management of major structures; the Coordinated Operations Management (GCO) for scheduling and assigning field interventions; and the Customer Relations Center (CRC) for communication with clients.

"Today, all our human and material resources are mobilized and positioned to cover sensitive points and intervene when needed. This mobilization relies on an organization tailored to various situations and close coordination with **local authorities** as well as our 12 provincial and prefectural directions," stated **Kamal Gragai**, Director of Liquid Sanitation Operations at SRM Casablanca-Settat.
