Stellantis Expands Its Operations with a New Center in Casablanca
In a significant move towards sustainability and circular economy practices, Stellantis has inaugurated its first vehicle dismantling facility in Africa, located in Casablanca, Morocco. This center is part of the company's broader strategy to enhance its regional operations under its SUSTAINera division. The launch, which took place on May 7, 2026, marks a pivotal step in Stellantis's commitment to environmental responsibility while catering to the growing needs of the automotive market in North Africa.
Third Global Dismantling Facility and Regional Impact
The Casablanca facility is Stellantis's third vehicle dismantling site globally, following similar centers in Turin, Italy, and São Paulo, Brazil. Notably, it is the first of its kind in the Middle East and Africa, aimed at serving not only Morocco but also the broader West African region. This center is envisioned as a crucial industrial catalyst, driving the development of circular economy activities throughout the area. According to Samir Cherfan, the Chief Operating Officer for the Middle East and Africa, the circular economy is a strategic priority that aligns industrial performance with responsible resource utilization and customer accessibility.
This new center is equipped to handle the sourcing and dismantling of end-of-life vehicles, commercialization of used parts, and collection of components for recycling. Stellantis aims to dismantle up to 10,000 vehicles annually, generating approximately 150 direct and indirect jobs at full capacity. The investment for this 6,000-square-meter facility amounts to 1.6 million euros, reflecting Stellantis's commitment to a comprehensive approach that encompasses the entire lifecycle of vehicle parts and components through remanufacturing, reuse, and recycling. These offerings will be made available via the Stellantis after-sales network, partner repairers, and Distrigo hubs.
