Strengthening Bilateral Ties: Morocco and Madagascar's Commitment to Cooperation

Enhanced Diplomatic Relations Between Morocco and Madagascar

In a significant diplomatic meeting held on Tuesday in Rabat, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita engaged with Alice N’Diaye, the Foreign Minister of Madagascar, to discuss the robust and dynamic bilateral relations between their nations. This meeting underscored the enduring friendship, mutual respect, and cooperative spirit that characterize the ties binding Morocco and Madagascar. Minister N’Diaye commended the high-quality relations that have flourished between the two countries, highlighting the profound impact of His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s visit to Madagascar in 2016. This pivotal visit has been instrumental in revitalizing and strengthening cooperation across various sectors, thereby contributing to sustainable development initiatives in Madagascar.

Future Prospects for Cooperation and Development

During their discussions, both ministers expressed enthusiasm over the recent establishment of the Embassy of Madagascar in Rabat, set to open in November 2024. This development is anticipated to invigorate bilateral relations further and reflects the shared commitment to enhance cooperation between Morocco and Madagascar. The two officials recognized the importance of their partnership and agreed to elevate it to new heights, aligning with the aspirations of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, the President of Madagascar’s Refoundation. To this end, they planned to convene the second session of the Joint Cooperation Commission in the upcoming months, with a focus on diversifying areas of collaboration. Priority sectors identified for future cooperation include agriculture, health, renewable energy, training and capacity building, youth employability, and security, aiming to foster growth and development for both nations.
