Vienna (PK) – During his visit to Austria, Nasser Bourita, the Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Morocco, visited the Parliament where he was welcomed by the President of the National Council, Walter Rosenkranz, for a working discussion. The conversation focused on various topics, including economic aspects and security policy issues.

Rosenkranz emphasized the strong and positive bilateral relations between the two countries, which extend from economic collaboration to security policies. He noted that these relations are built on a long-standing tradition, beginning with the establishment of the first diplomatic contacts with Morocco in 1783 under Emperor Joseph II. He particularly appreciated Morocco's role as a reliable and stable partner on the African continent, highlighting the country's diplomacy, which is characterized by discretion and is always applied where it is needed. He expressed confidence that such an approach is recognized and rewarded by the international community. Moreover, Rosenkranz discussed the joint efforts in combating illegal migration.

Minister Bourita reinforced that an agreement on trade and peace was established in Vienna back in 1783, and its principles remain relevant today. He noted that the economic relations have developed positively in recent years, contributing to a 23% increase in trade volume. Morocco has also taken its responsibilities regarding migration seriously and has intensified cooperation with Austria, resulting in noticeable progress over the last three years. However, he cautioned that Europe must recognize that the pressure of migration should not solely fall on transit countries. (End) sue
