The Morocco-India Economic Forum 2026: A Platform for Partnership
The Morocco-India Economic Forum 2026 took place on Monday in Rabat, initiated by the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services (CCISRSK), in collaboration with the Embassy of India in the Kingdom and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). This high-level event brought together a delegation of 21 Indian business leaders from strategic sectors, as well as Moroccan representatives from various economic fields, with the aim of exploring sustainable partnership opportunities and ensuring mutually beneficial investments.
During the forum, Hassan Sakhi, President of CCISRSK, emphasized that the long-standing friendship between the two nations has evolved into a robust, diverse, and continuously developing economic partnership. In a speech delivered on his behalf, Sakhi noted that the high-level ministerial initiatives and the memoranda of understanding signed between Morocco and India in strategic fields reflect the dynamic political links between the two countries. He further highlighted the significant presence of an Indian delegation composed of business leaders operating in various sectors such as automotive, agriculture, information technology, health, and energy, which indicates the increasing interest of Indian players in the Moroccan market.
Sakhi pointed out that the dynamics of trade between the two countries is particularly evident in the volume of bilateral economic exchanges, stressing Morocco's commitment to enhancing this momentum, especially as India is a leading trading partner with substantial technological and industrial expertise. Furthermore, Mohan Puri, head of the CII delegation, expressed confidence in the potential for a strong partnership that unites India, Morocco, and Africa, highlighting Morocco's significant capabilities and opportunities.
He commended the numerous opportunities available in Morocco, particularly in renewable energy, green hydrogen, aviation, defense, and digital technologies, noting that the Kingdom provides a suitable platform for businesses from both countries to implement a variety of projects and develop technologies. The forum proceedings featured the screening of an institutional video showcasing the economic strengths and investment opportunities of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, along with a documentary on the business climate and updates to the investment charter in Morocco.
Additionally, a memorandum of understanding was signed to enhance trade exchanges, investments, and industrial partnerships between India and the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region. The forum concluded with a networking session and B2B meetings between the two delegations, marking a significant step towards fostering deeper economic ties.
