Strengthening Franco-Moroccan Relations: The Role of the Joint High Committee

In a pivotal meeting held in Rabat, Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch emphasized the significance of the Joint High Committee as a vital mechanism for fostering the "exceptional partnership" between Morocco and France. This statement was made during discussions with his French counterpart, Sébastien Lecornu, amidst the 15th session of the Joint High Committee for Cooperation, which took place on Wednesday and Thursday.

Prime Minister Akhannouch articulated that the Joint High Committee serves as a governmental tool for monitoring and guiding the execution of the deep and unique partnership established between the two nations. He noted that this gathering provides a valuable opportunity to assess the progress of commitments made by both countries and to outline new projects that will shape the future of their bilateral relations.

He further highlighted the current session's special importance, citing a renewed dynamic in Morocco-France relations. This revitalization stems from an initiative launched by Moroccan King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron during Macron's visit to Morocco in October 2024, which culminated in the signing of the "Declaration of the Exceptional Partnership" between the two countries.

Since President Macron's visit, there has been a series of reciprocal visits by officials from both nations, resulting in the signing of various cooperation agreements across diverse sectors. This ongoing engagement signifies a commitment to enhancing the strategic ties that bind Morocco and France.
