Strengthening Higher Education Cooperation Between Mali and Morocco
The relationship between Mali and Morocco is set to gain a new momentum as both nations reaffirm their commitment to enhancing collaboration in the realms of higher education, employment, and vocational training. This determination was publicly declared during a high-level meeting held on May 6, 2026, in Bamako, which featured discussions between Malian officials and a Moroccan delegation led by His Excellency Driss Isbayene, the Moroccan Ambassador to Mali.
The meeting was co-chaired by Oumou Sall Seck, the Minister of National Entrepreneurship, Employment, and Vocational Training, alongside Professor Bouréma Kansaye, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Throughout their discussions, both the Malian and Moroccan representatives acknowledged the robust friendship and cooperation that exist between their two countries, reiterating their mutual desire to further strengthen this strategic partnership.
Particular emphasis was placed on exploring collaborative opportunities within the sectors of higher education and technical vocational training, which are regarded as crucial levers for youth integration and economic development. The officials present highlighted the significance of this visit, not only in solidifying the achievements of their bilateral cooperation but also in uncovering new partnership prospects that would benefit the citizens of both nations.
In light of the current security challenges, particularly following the recent terrorist attacks on April 25, the Moroccan Ambassador, His Excellency Driss Isbayene, expressed his country's solidarity and compassion towards the Malian people. This meeting serves to illustrate the dynamic cooperation between Bamako and Rabat, founded on principles of dialogue, solidarity, and capacity building in priority sectors.
