Morocco and Guinea Revitalize Their Strategic Partnership
On September 8, 2026, in Conakry, Nasser Bourita, the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Dr. Morissanda Kouyaté, his Guinean counterpart, convened to emphasize their commitment to invigorating the strategic partnership between Morocco and Guinea. This meeting marked the 8th session of the Moroccan-Guinean Joint Cooperation Commission, a platform designed to further enhance bilateral relations across economic, commercial, and cooperative domains.
During this significant session, both ministers praised the long-standing ties of friendship, cooperation, and solidarity that bind their nations. They recognized the mutual respect and esteem shared between King Mohammed VI of Morocco and President Mamadi Doumbouya of Guinea, which serves as a foundation for their collaborative efforts. Following a thorough review of their bilateral cooperation status, they reiterated their shared aspiration to elevate the Morocco-Guinea partnership to a strategic level, focusing on mutual interests, co-prosperity, and sustainable development. Their aim is to create an exemplary model of South-South cooperation.
Highlighting the vision outlined by President Doumbouya regarding the SIMANDOU 2040 program, Bourita expressed Morocco's readiness to share its development experiences with Guinea, aligning with the High Guidelines established by King Mohammed VI. Furthermore, he affirmed Morocco's willingness to contribute to the implementation of this program, particularly in critical sectors such as strategic infrastructure, security, fisheries, health, industrial and agricultural transformation, food security, skills training, hydraulic resources, and energy.
In a further commitment to solidifying their cooperation, the two parties celebrated the enhancement of their legal framework governing bilateral relations. This was marked by the signing of 25 cooperation agreements during the 8th Joint Commission session, covering a diverse range of sectors including economics, finance, air transport, customs, agriculture, energy, tourism, justice, health, meteorology, climate science, port management, urban development, sports, culture, craftsmanship, higher education, scientific research, innovation, and areas related to academic scholarships and vocational training.
Both ministers reaffirmed their dedication to ensuring the effective implementation of this enriched legal framework, striving to strengthen the privileged relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Guinea.
