Arrest of a Key Figure in the Foxtrot Criminal Network
A 31-year-old Swedish national has been apprehended in the coastal city of Agadir, Morocco. This individual has been identified as a central figure in the criminal organization known as Foxtrot, which is believed to be responsible for numerous violent crimes in Sweden.
The man had been in absentia detention in Sweden and was wanted on a red notice by Interpol for two counts of conspiracy to commit murder at the time of his arrest on Friday evening. Residing in Malmö, the suspect has spent recent years abroad, including time in Turkey.
Cooperation with Moroccan Authorities
Swedish police have expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts with Moroccan authorities, highlighting a multifaceted approach to crime fighting that encompasses political and diplomatic relations, as well as various operational levels within the Swedish Police Authority and the Public Prosecution Authority. Abdellatif Hammouchi, the General Director of Police and Security in Morocco, and his team have made significant contributions that have further weakened the Foxtrot network. Stefan Hector, Deputy National Police Chief, stated, "We are enhancing our capacity and continuing our work to apprehend criminal actors abroad, as organized crime continually adapts to our methods and practices." The 31-year-old will be requested for extradition back to Sweden.
Authorities assess this arrest as strategically important, believing it will significantly impact the criminal network's ability to carry out violent and drug-related crimes, in which the now apprehended man played a crucial role. Remarkably, less than ten days prior, Moroccan police had arrested another violent Swedish citizen. Anders Wiberg, head of the International Unit at Noa, reiterated their appreciation for the cooperation with Moroccan authorities.
