International Arrest of a Swedish Citizen in Tangier

On Wednesday, September 16, 2026, the local police authority in Tangier, in coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, successfully apprehended a 22-year-old Swedish citizen. This individual was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the Swedish judicial authorities, suspected of involvement in a case related to attempted murder.

Details regarding the operation indicate that a background check on the suspect within the database of wanted individuals revealed that he was internationally sought under a red notice issued by Interpol, at the request of Swedish authorities. The apprehension occurred as the suspect was caught in the act of using a false identity and committing forgery. During the identity verification process, he presented a driver's license that contained falsified identification details.

The individual has since been placed under police custody, pending an investigation related to the forgery and its usage, which is being conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor. In addition, the National Central Bureau of Interpol in Rabat has been tasked with notifying its counterpart in Sweden about the arrest.

This operation exemplifies the commitment of Moroccan security services to enhance international law enforcement cooperation, particularly in pursuing and detaining individuals wanted for transnational crimes.
