Promising Sediment Sampling Results at Fougnar Project

Talisman Metals has recently announced significant findings from its stream sediment sampling conducted at the Fougnar Project, situated approximately 25 kilometers west of the Tizert copper-silver mine in Morocco. The analysis, which involved 132 sediment samples, has uncovered several anomalous catchments that indicate the potential for substantial mineral deposits. This analysis, in conjunction with previous fieldwork and mapping efforts, has effectively validated priority drill targets for future exploration.

Among the notable assay results, Talisman reported concentrations of up to 200 parts per million (ppm) of copper, along with impressive figures of 6,510 ppm barium, 502 ppm lead, and 161 ppm zinc. These findings not only underscore the mineral potential of the area but also highlight the presence of new target corridors extending approximately 4 kilometers across six distinct zones, which complement the existing 2.5-kilometer mineralized trend previously identified. The historical trenching areas, known for their mineralization, were also reconfirmed, providing critical baseline geochemical anomaly values for copper.

The methodology employed in this sediment sampling involved the careful collection of samples from drainage channels, deliberately avoiding disturbed areas to ensure the accuracy of results. The collected samples, which were sieved to a size of under 63 micrometers, underwent rigorous multi-element analysis at the ONHYM laboratory located in Rabat. Remarkably, the analytical procedures indicated no contamination in the blank samples, with field duplicates demonstrating strong repeatability, further validating the reliability of the results.

Future Exploration and Expansion Plans

In light of these findings, Talisman has laid out an ambitious plan for further exploration, which includes detailed geological mapping, rock-chip sampling, trenching in targeted areas, and subsequent drilling efforts aimed at deeper exploration of the mineralization. Talisman's CEO, Tim McCutcheon, emphasized the strategic focus on the northern section of the Fougnar Project, where outcropping mineralization has been observed. However, he also noted that significantly copper-anomalous samples have been collected from the southern part of the project, spanning a 1-kilometer-long interval. This has prompted the company to expand its target zone, signaling a proactive approach to capitalize on the emerging opportunities.

Additionally, in February of this year, Talisman signed an agreement to acquire the Tirzzit Copper Project in Morocco, further enhancing its portfolio in this mineral-rich region. The company continues to strive for excellence in its exploration efforts, aiming to unlock the substantial mineral potential of the Fougnar Project and contribute to the growing mining landscape in Morocco.
