Professional League Temporarily Paused for African Matches
The National Professional Football League has announced a temporary suspension of the first division league matches to accommodate clubs participating in the African competitions. This decision, made public on Tuesday, aims to facilitate the participation of these teams in their respective home and away matches under favorable conditions.
In a statement, the league emphasized that this break also coincides with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, which has been factored into the scheduling arrangements for league matches during this period. The quarter-finals draw for the African Champions League has placed RS Berkane against Sudan's Al Hilal, while the Royal Army will face Egypt's Pyramids FC. In the Confederation Cup quarter-finals, Wydad Athletic Club will compete against Olympique Safi.
The first leg matches of this round are expected to take place at the end of this week, with the return matches scheduled for the following weekend. This strategic pause reflects the league's commitment to supporting its clubs on the continental stage while also respecting cultural observances.
