Tensions Rise at CHU Fes as Nurses Demand Resolution of Compensation Issues

The Independent Union of Nurses and Health Technicians in the Fes-Meknes region has raised alarms regarding the ongoing tensions and unrest at the Hassan II University Hospital Center in Fes. The union warns that the current state of conflict could adversely affect the newly structured regional healthcare system. In a bid to alleviate the situation, they are calling for urgent action to settle outstanding compensations and financial claims related to night shifts and other services provided by nursing staff.

In an open letter addressed to sector officials, the union criticized the continuous negotiations taking place without tangible outcomes being translated into actionable decisions. They have held the hospital management directly accountable for the delays in the disbursement of financial compensations owed to nursing staff for their duties and completed tasks. The regional office of the union has urged both the Minister of Health and Social Protection and the Director General of the regional health authority in Fes-Meknes to intervene promptly to address these financial discrepancies. The union has also cautioned that postponing these unresolved issues will hinder the effective launch of the new health organization in the region and exacerbate professional dissatisfaction among healthcare workers.
