In a recent meeting held earlier this week, Prime Minister Akhannouch addressed Lekjaa's comments concerning the World Cup Final, which he previously suggested would be hosted at the new Hassan II Stadium, currently under construction in Benslimane near Casablanca. This stadium is projected to be the largest specifically designed for football, boasting a capacity of 115,000 spectators and a construction cost of around $1 billion. However, these plans have not been finalized nor agreed upon with Spain and Portugal, raising significant concerns regarding the collaboration between the host nations.
Following Lekjaa's statements, there was notable backlash. The International Football Federation (FIFA) reiterated that a decision regarding the final's location will be made in due course, as previously noted in their communications.
