The Election Results of the 'Book' Party
The 'Progress and Socialism Party' achieved a total of 19 seats in the 2026 parliamentary elections, which were distributed between 10 local seats and 9 regional seats designated for women. Notable victories included Rashid Hamouni in the Boulemane district, Mariam Wahsate in Beni Mellal, Ahmed Al-Abadi in Taza, Abdelilah Idrissi Bouzeidi in Taounate-Tissa, Amin Bizid in El Jadida, and Fouad Karim in Khemisset and Al-Mass. Additionally, Osman Al-Marsi won in the Essaouira district, Abdel Khalek Bessinty in Larache, Hassan Al-Darham in Laayoune, and Mohamed Qasha in Tinghir.
In the regional elections, the party secured several wins, including Mariam Al-Kanouni in the Marrakech-Safi region, Dalila Al-Oudiyi in Casablanca-Settat, Soumia Mounsif Haji in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, along with Hanan Al-Soufi in the Eastern region and Fatima Aswidi in the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region. The list of successful female candidates also featured Khadija Al-Baz in the Souss-Massa region, Ahlam Jalid in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, Fatima Zahra Barhiyoui in the Fes-Meknes region, and Hafida Imami in the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region.
Despite these victories, the results fell short of the party's expectations, which had projected a minimum of 50 seats. This outcome reflects a decline in the party's electoral performance, particularly when compared to their previous achievement of 22 seats in the September 8, 2021 elections.
