The Results of the 2026 Parliamentary Elections for the Progress and Socialism Party
The Progress and Socialism Party, known in Arabic as حزب التقدم والاشتراكية, has concluded the 2026 parliamentary elections with a total of 19 seats in the House of Representatives. This distribution includes 10 seats garnered from local constituencies and 9 seats allocated from the regional lists designated for women. Notable candidates who secured victories in local districts include Rashid Hamouni in the Boulemane district, Mariam Wahsaa in Beni Mellal, Ahmed Al-Abadi in Taza, and Abdelilah Idrissi Bouzaidi in Taounate-Tissa. Other local winners include Othman El-Marsi in Essaouira, Abdelkhaleq Bessinti in Larache, Hassan Derham in Laayoune, and Mohamed Qasha in Tinghir.
In terms of regional representation, the party saw successes with candidates such as Mariam Al-Kanouni in the Marrakech-Safi region, Dalila Al-Oudi in Casablanca-Settat, Soumia Monsef Haji in the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region, Hanan Al-Soufi in the East region, and Fatima Asouidi in the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region. The winners also included Khadija Al-Baz in the Souss-Massa region, Ahlam Jeld in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, Fatima Zahra Barhiyoui in Fes-Meknes, and Hafida Imami in Beni Mellal-Khenifra.
Despite these achievements, the results fell short of the party's expectations, as it had initially projected to secure at least 50 seats. This outcome marks a notable decline in the party's electoral performance compared to the previous elections held on September 8, 2021, where they had obtained 22 seats. The results have raised concerns regarding the party's future positioning within the political landscape, especially in light of the anticipated challenges ahead.
