A New Architectural Landmark in Morocco
The city of Rabat recently celebrated the grand opening of the magnificent Mohamed VI Tower, which stands as the tallest building in Morocco, reaching an impressive height of 250 meters. Designed by the renowned architect Rafael de la Hoz from Córdoba, this architectural marvel officially opened its doors in a ceremony attended by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, along with various officials and representatives from the companies involved in its construction. The tower not only symbolizes modernity and innovation but also serves as a new iconic feature of Morocco's skyline.
Features and Sustainability Efforts
The Mohamed VI Tower consists of 55 floors, built on a four-level podium, encompassing a total constructed area of over 100,000 square meters. Its striking silhouette is visible from over 50 kilometers away, standing elegantly alongside the Bouregreg River, thus establishing itself as a cornerstone of architectural reference in the region. Developed by O Tower, a subsidiary of O Capital Group, the tower's design incorporates a multifunctional approach, housing luxury accommodations under the Waldorf Astoria brand, as well as high-end offices, upscale apartments, retail spaces, restaurants, and a panoramic observation deck offering breathtaking views of the capital and its surroundings.
Moreover, the Mohamed VI Tower emphasizes a strong commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency. Notably, it features more than 4,000 square meters of photovoltaic panels strategically placed on the southern facade and the podium roof, aiming to achieve high-level environmental certifications such as LEED Gold and HQE. The interior spaces have been meticulously designed by the Belgian firm FLAMANT, further solidifying Rafael de la Hoz's status as a key figure in contemporary international architecture.
