The Ongoing Exhibition of Artist Mustafa Ijmâa

The exhibition featuring the renowned artist Mustafa Ijmâa at the Mohamed Fassi Gallery, organized by the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, has gained remarkable attention and acclaim since its inception. Titled "Eye and Traces," this exhibition has attracted a distinguished audience of art enthusiasts and creators alike, including prominent figures such as artist Aziz El Said, cartoonist Arabi Al-Sabaan, and poets Mohamed Hafid, Salah Bouserif, and Mohamed Belmou, alongside journalist and writer Bouchaib Dabbari, among others. Due to the overwhelming interest, the Directorate of Arts within the Cultural Sector has decided to extend the exhibition until July 15, allowing even more visitors to experience Ijmâa's mesmerizing artwork. The exhibition showcases 24 pieces of varying sizes, each a testament to Ijmâa's distinctive artistic expression.

Artistic Vision and Philosophy

In a presentation of Ijmâa's artistic works, he articulates a profound philosophy about the nature of his creations: "Things grow by the harmony of their small parts coming together, expanding and shining until we recognize and name them. Gradually, they move slowly to embrace the sun and light. We adjust their elements, rhythms, and the systems of their shapes, creating harmony in their compositions and the essence that drives them." This highlights the Arabic letter as an artistic entity that stands tall amidst nostalgia and aspirations. It embodies a connection between water and clay, existence and transcendence, breaking through thresholds and barriers. It draws inspiration from companionship and proximity, while fostering an active dialogue that seeks to unveil deeper meanings through inquiry. The audience is invited to establish a bridge of communication through reading, interpretation, and deconstruction. There are diverse signals intersecting to create a unique vision, grounded in a rich visual narrative that brings to life the letter in its magnificent manifestations. The size and form of the letters vary, serving as a central axis, a sign, a symbol, or a meaning within the continuum of Arabic literary heritage that celebrates its astonishing and proliferating carnivals. The goal is to create a model that stimulates ongoing aesthetic creativity and fosters an artistic sensibility that builds a warm bridge of communication between artistic achievements and future endeavors.

This experience seeks to create a visual impact, drawing on the Arabic letter as a flexible, responsive body. It engages in companionship and proximity, sometimes transcending predefined boundaries, while maintaining a fundamental connection that has an inherent rhythm of enjoyable public communication that invites a re-evaluation of questions in a different light. The essence of the impact remains human, timeless, even if it occasionally carries the weight of individual authorship or belonging. How can a visual impact, aimed at engaging with existence, intersect with a sign of visual perception (the letter)? Eyes are varied and diverse. Are they not, in essence, the same? They are a spring of flowing water, the eye of the observer, and the eye of the pearl (its hole), constantly observing and reflecting. This visual journey invites a special love, a deep-rooted passion for exploration and the decoding of meanings. Ultimately, it is about the letters that strive to create intimacy and connection, serving as a central pole that interacts harmoniously with other elements and followers, demonstrating compassion and a gentle watchfulness capable of adapting to change with resilience and determination. Thus, it is evident that this artistic endeavor has evolved to express a harmonious narrative through the letters, inviting viewers to engage deeply and meaningfully with the art before them.
