Inauguration of the Solidarity Bazaar in Casablanca
The sixth edition of the Solidarity Bazaar was inaugurated on Tuesday at Place Maréchal in Casablanca. Organized by the Mohammed VI Center for Support of Solidarity Microfinance (CMS), this event brings together 360 exhibitors from various regions of Morocco, aiming to promote local products, craftsmanship, and the activities of micro-entrepreneurs, cooperatives, and players in the social and solidarity economy. The opening ceremony was attended by notable figures, including Abdelkhaleq Merzouki, the governor of the Casablanca-Anfa prefecture, along with representatives from organizations involved in the social and solidarity economy.
Running until August 20, the Solidarity Bazaar will unfold in three successive phases, with the goal of showcasing the diversity of local know-how and products. Through this initiative, the Mohammed VI Center for Support of Solidarity Microfinance seeks to provide micro-entrepreneurs with a platform to promote and market their products to the general public, highlighting the richness of Moroccan craftsmanship and the variety of local products.
A Catalyst for Social Economy Development
Amina Sakioudi, the General Director of the Mohammed VI Center for Support of Solidarity Microfinance, stated that this annual gathering reflects the values of solidarity, creativity, and innovation championed by the Center. She explained that the decision to hold the event in Casablanca, the country’s main economic hub, was made to enhance visibility for the exhibitors. According to her, the products showcased at the bazaar exemplify the craftsmanship of Moroccan artisans, cultivated over many years of dedicated work.
Sakioudi further emphasized that the Center’s mission continues through this initiative by providing micro-entrepreneurs with a marketing space and direct contact with consumers. She reminded attendees that very small enterprises serve as a lever for local development, job creation, and economic empowerment. Additionally, she praised the contributions of partners, local authorities, and microfinance organizations in organizing this sixth edition of the event.
The exhibitors echoed the significance of the bazaar as a promotional space for their products and a meeting point with consumers. They believe that their presence in Casablanca allows them to reach a broader audience while facilitating the exchange of best practices among artisans, cooperatives, and micro-entrepreneurs from different regions. This increased visibility also supports the promotion of local products and the advancement of Moroccan craftsmanship.
Visitors to the Solidarity Bazaar can explore a variety of offerings across multiple sectors, including handcrafted items, local products, agri-food articles, textile and clothing creations, natural cosmetic products, decorative objects, accessories, and various other income-generating activities.
