The TGCC Foundation in Casablanca Illuminated in Tribute to Artist Abdallah Sadouk

Honoring Abdallah Sadouk: A Beacon of Light in Casablanca

In a heartfelt tribute to one of its most unique and discreet artists, the TGCC Foundation in Casablanca has chosen to illuminate its building as a farewell gesture to Abdallah Sadouk, who passed away on February 15 in Paris. Over the course of two nights, specifically on March 13 and 14, the façade of the foundation, a masterpiece created by Sadouk in 2016, will shine brightly in his honor.

"Abdallah Sadouk was not merely an artist; he was a creator of forms and emotions. By lighting up the TGCC headquarters, we wish to provide the people of Casablanca with a moment of visual reflection and pay homage to his significant contributions to our cultural heritage," expressed Meryem Bouzoubaa, President of the TGCC Foundation.

A Testament to Artistic Vision

When Sadouk designed the ornamental structure of the TGCC Foundation, he articulated his approach by stating, "Thanks to the training I received as a sculptor, draftsman, and painter since 1967, I was able to incorporate architectural and decorative notions to create bas-reliefs, cutouts, and ornamental structures that resulted in coherent forms. It was essentially about dressing a building." He praised the collaboration with architect and designer Mohamed Abbassi, with whom he had an immediate rapport.

Given the scale of the project, Sadouk had to reinvent shapes and figures suitable for the façade, ensuring that they respected the proportions and harmony of the surrounding urban landscape. He noted, "In my work, the landscape remains the guiding thread that allows me great freedom to address any element that integrates into a coherent and rich ensemble—geometric shapes, figurines, calligraphic fragments, and symbols." Sadouk's artistic journey began in 1950 in Casablanca, where he honed his skills at the National Institute of Fine Arts in Tetouan from 1967 to 1970, under the guidance of Abdellah Fekhar. His thirst for knowledge led him to Paris, where he followed a distinguished educational path, attending the National School of Decorative Arts, specializing in sculpture under Emmanuel Auricoste, and later the National School of Fine Arts in the studio of Jean-Marie Granier, culminating in a degree in plastic arts from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in 1980.

Sadouk's visual language, enriched by calligraphic elements and architectural motifs, explored an ever-evolving urban landscape, showcasing his profound impact on the art world.
