Weather Forecast for Morocco: Thunderstorms and Temperature Changes

Today, Morocco is bracing for a shift in weather patterns, with the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) predicting thunderstorms and rainfall across various regions. While northern and central areas will see a rise in temperatures, other parts of the country will experience a noticeable decline. Particularly, localized thunderstorms are anticipated over the Atlas and Rif mountains, as well as in the eastern regions and the Sahara provinces.

The forecast highlights the possibility of dense cloud cover affecting the interior plains, the northern parts of the eastern region, and the Southeast, leading to showers accompanied by a risk of thunderstorms. Wind conditions will also play a role, with moderate gusts expected along the southern and southeastern coasts, adding to the dynamic weather scenario.

Temperature variations are notable, with minimum temperatures projected to range between 7 and 12 degrees Celsius in the Atlas Mountains, while the eastern High Plateaus, the Rif, and parts of the eastern Atlas will see temperatures between 12 and 16°C. In contrast, other regions of the country are expected to experience warmer conditions, with minimums ranging from 17 to 22°C. Notably, the northern interior plains, Saiss, Tadla plains, and the interior of the southern provinces are likely to witness a rise in temperatures, whereas declines are expected in other areas.

In major urban centers, the temperature forecasts vary: Rabat is expected to see temperatures between 18 and 25°C, while Casablanca will range from 20 to 24°C. Marrakech is forecasted to experience a range of 17 to 27°C, Meknes will see 17 to 25°C, Fez will range from 18 to 26°C, and Agadir will fall between 19 and 25°C. Laayoune is anticipated to record temperatures from 18 to 30°C, with Es-Semara possibly reaching highs of 32°C. Ifrane will remain one of the cooler spots, with temperatures between 10 and 19°C.

As for maritime conditions, the Mediterranean is expected to remain calm to slightly rough, particularly in waters north of Mehdia and between Tarfaya and Boujdour. The Strait of Gibraltar is predicted to be calm, whereas other areas may experience slightly rough to occasionally rough sea conditions.
