Timitar 2026: A Cultural Celebration in Agadir with Global Artists

Timitar Festival 2026: A Fusion of Amazigh Heritage and Global Music

The highly anticipated Timitar Festival is set to take place from July 23 to July 25, 2026, in Agadir, Morocco. This year’s festival will showcase a diverse lineup of approximately thirty artists from both Morocco and abroad, celebrating the theme "Amazigh Artists Welcome World Artists." Events will unfold across two main venues: Place Al Amal and the Verdure Theatre. Attendees can expect a rich blend of Amazigh music, chaâbi, gnaoua, African and Oriental sounds, alongside contemporary creations, ensuring a multifaceted cultural experience.

The opening night on July 23 will honor Amazigh traditions with a performance by the female Ahwach group Tiferkhin at Place Al Amal. This evening will also feature renowned acts such as L'Artiste, Benny Adam & Guests—an exciting collaboration merging French and Moroccan artistry—DJ Key, and the iconic Najat Atabou. Concurrently, the Verdure Theatre will host Mauritanian singer Malouma Mint Mokhtar alongside Moroccan star Fatima Tihihite, promising an enchanting start to the festival.

On July 24, the festival will continue to foster dialogue between Moroccan and African musical repertoires. At Place Al Amal, the evening will kick off with Ahwach Kelaat M'Gouna, followed by performances from Larbi Imghrane, Zouhair Bahaoui, MR ID, and Zina Daoudia, all of whom are prominent figures in the Moroccan music scene. Meanwhile, the Verdure Theatre will feature Ivorian singer Aïcha Koné, the collective Africa United featuring Foulane—a blend of artists from Comoros, Côte d'Ivoire, Congo, and Morocco—and the Kenyan group Makadem, further enriching the festival’s offerings.

The festival will culminate on July 25 with a grand finale that honors both heritage and iconic figures from the Arab and Moroccan music scene. At Place Al Amal, attendees can look forward to the performance “Les Ahwachs du Grand Sud,” featuring Hamid El Kasri, DJ HBrown, Lebanese superstar Ragheb Alama, and the folk group Oudaden. Simultaneously, the Verdure Theatre will host Fatema Tachtoukt, Lebanese singer Abeer Nehme, and Fatima Tabaamrant, ensuring that the event concludes on a high note.

Remaining true to its roots, Timitar aims to highlight Amazigh artistic expressions while also facilitating interactions with artists from Africa, the Arab world, and beyond. The festival's programming reflects a commitment to cultural diversity, showcasing representatives from various generations and musical backgrounds, thus reinforcing its mission to promote cultural richness.
