Agadir Set to Host the Timitar Festival 2026

The vibrant summer festival season in Morocco continues to captivate audiences, and now it is Agadir's turn to shine as the epicenter of music with the much-anticipated return of the Timitar Festival. Scheduled to take place from July 23 to July 25, 2026, this year's festival embraces the iconic slogan: "Amazigh artists welcome artists from around the world." Over the course of three days, nearly thirty Moroccan and international artists will grace the stages at Al Amal Square and the Theatre de Verdure, presenting a rich tapestry of musical traditions that includes Amazigh music, chaâbi, gnaoua, African sounds, oriental melodies, and contemporary creations.

The opening night on July 23 will pay homage to the Amazigh heritage, featuring performances by the female Ahwach group Tiferkhin, the renowned Najat Atabou, DJ Key, and a special musical project called Benny Adam & Guests, uniting Moroccan and French artists. At the Theatre de Verdure, Mauritanian singer Malouma Mint Mokhtar will share the stage with Fatima Tihihite, representing the cultural dialogue between the Maghreb and Africa.

A Celebration of Musical Diversity

On July 24, the festival will showcase emerging talents. The Al Amal stage will feature performances by Larbi Imghrane, Zouhair Bahaoui, MR ID, and Zina Daoudia, following an opening by Ahwach Kelaat M’Gouna. Meanwhile, the Theatre de Verdure will host legendary Ivorian artist Aïcha Koné, the Africa United collective featuring artists from Morocco, Comoros, Ivory Coast, and Congo, alongside Kenyan musician Makadem. The grand finale on July 25 promises a spectacular lineup, including Les Ahwachs du Grand Sud, master gnaoui Hamid El Kasri, DJ HBrown, Lebanese singer Ragheb Alama, and the iconic Amazigh group Oudaden. The Theatre de Verdure will feature Fatema Tachtoukt, Lebanese diva Abeer Nehme, and the renowned Amazigh singer Fatima Tabaamrant.

However, Timitar is more than just a festival; established in 2004, it has blossomed into one of Africa's premier musical events. Its unique mission is to facilitate a dialogue between Amazigh music and some of the world's greatest stages while providing international visibility for Moroccan artists. Each year, hundreds of thousands of festival-goers converge in Agadir to celebrate the Kingdom's cultural diversity. Through its impressive programming, Timitar reaffirms its commitment to preserving Amazigh heritage while embracing African, oriental, and global influences. This identity has solidified its status as one of Morocco's most emblematic festivals and a true beacon of cultural outreach on the international stage.

With a lineup featuring Najat Atabou, Ragheb Alama, Hamid El Kasri, Oudaden, and numerous artists from around the globe, Agadir is poised once again to resonate with the richness of Moroccan culture far beyond its borders.
