Tourism Growth in Marrakech and Al Haouz
As of the end of July 2026, the classified tourist accommodation establishments (EHTC) in Marrakech and Al Haouz have reported a remarkable increase in tourism activity. Specifically, the city of Marrakech has experienced a surge in overnight stays, reaching an impressive total of 8.27 million, which marks a notable increase of 10% compared to the same period in 2025. This upward trend highlights the city's growing appeal as a tourist destination.
In July alone, Marrakech recorded over 1.1 million overnight stays, reflecting an 11% growth. Meanwhile, Al Haouz also saw significant progress, with overnight stays hitting 138,156 in July, representing a remarkable 20% increase. The occupancy rates for these regions were reported at 63% for Marrakech and an impressive 78% for Al Haouz, indicating a robust demand for accommodations.
Throughout the first seven months of the year, Marrakech accounted for 32% of the national overnight stays, maintaining a steady occupancy rate of 70%, which is a one-point increase from previous figures. In the Al Haouz province, overnight stays totaled 864,977, marking a 9% increase; however, the occupancy rate saw a slight decline, settling at 75%, down by two points.
On a national scale, the EHTC recorded a total of 25.85 million overnight stays by the end of July, showcasing an 8% increase and an overall occupancy rate of 56%. This upward trajectory of tourism is encouraging for the local economy and underscores the resilience and attractiveness of these regions as key players in Morocco's tourism sector.
