Tragic Drowning Incident Claims Life of 14-Year-Old Student in Morocco

On Monday evening, local firefighting units successfully recovered the body of a 14-year-old student who tragically drowned in a water canal within the jurisdiction of the municipality of Had Boumoussa, located in the province of Fquih Ben Salah. The unfortunate incident prompted a swift response from local authorities and the royal gendarmerie stationed in Had Boumoussa, alongside members of the firefighting team and several local residents. This collaborative effort initiated extensive search and recovery operations that eventually led to the discovery of the deceased's body in the Bougaroun area, which is part of the Arafala municipality in the Azhilal province, approximately four kilometers from the site of his disappearance.

According to information obtained by Hespress, the victim was a middle school student attending an educational institution in the Arafala municipality before he went missing near the water canal under circumstances that are still under investigation. Following the recovery, the minor's body was transported to the local morgue for the completion of legal procedures, while the royal gendarmerie has opened an investigation, overseen by the relevant public prosecutor's office, to ascertain the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.

This heartbreaking incident follows closely on the heels of another similar tragedy, where the body of another 14-year-old student was retrieved from the waters of the Bin Ouidane Lake in the Azhilal province. This student had drowned on Sunday in the Imi Ntadroucht area, which is part of the municipality of Ouaouizaght. These incidents highlight the dangers posed by water channels and facilities, especially during the hot weather when children and young people are increasingly drawn to these locations.
