Police Arrest Suspect in Fatal Hit-and-Run Case
In the early hours of Saturday, September 26, the Judicial Police of the Anfa Security District in Casablanca successfully apprehended a woman suspected of being involved in a fatal traffic accident. This incident, which resulted in the death of a police officer serving in his capacity, was compounded by the fact that the driver fled the scene while under the influence of alcohol.
The tragic event unfolded during a routine traffic monitoring patrol in the Anfa area, where a speeding vehicle struck the officer before the driver made a quick escape. Unfortunately, the officer succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital.
Following the accident, thorough investigations were carried out, utilizing surveillance footage from the police patrol's body cameras. This crucial evidence led to the identification of the vehicle and its registration number, which ultimately facilitated the arrest of the suspected driver, who was found to be intoxicated and accompanied by another individual at the time of her apprehension.
The authorities have placed both the driver and her companion under judicial investigation, which is being conducted under the supervision of the public prosecutor's office.
