Opel Run & Beat: A Unique Fusion of Sport, Music, and Culture
The Opel Run & Beat is not merely a race; it is an exhilarating experience that transforms the economic capital of Morocco into a giant open stage. With a creatively designed truck, live DJ performances by irenee.s, energetic runners in motion, and the vibrant backdrop of Casablanca, the event has turned the city into a spectacular showcase of culture and vitality. According to Yasmine Ouf, the co-founder of Opel Run & Beat, the goal was to create an event that unites people, shining a spotlight on Morocco and its youth on an international scale. "We wanted to demonstrate that in our country, we can excel just as much, if not more, than what is done internationally," she explains. Impressively, the event was organized in a record time of just two months.
Opel partnered with a Moroccan platform that brings together sports, music, and urban culture, promoting a modern, free, and inclusive way of experiencing Casablanca, as stated in the press release. The collective behind this initiative aims to help locals rediscover Casablanca from a fresh perspective, which is why the chosen route is particularly significant. The race commenced and concluded at the iconic Sacré-Cœur Cathedral, which was transformed into a wellness and lifestyle village for this occasion. Ouf emphasized the importance of this landmark, stating, "It is an emblem of Casablanca, so we wanted to highlight it."
Community Spirit and Enthusiastic Participation
Participants enjoyed the event not only through sports but also by dancing and having fun. Soumia Allali, one of the participants, described the organization as "extraordinary," noting the friendliness of the people on a "radiant day." Similarly, Saad Snaoui, another participant, expressed his delight, stating he had a fantastic time behind the DJ booth and praised the overall organization of the event. He encouraged the continuation of similar events in the future, highlighting the positive atmosphere created by such gatherings.
The Run & Beat initiative is supported by a diverse collective that includes Amine Allali, co-founder of Canova Technologies; Kenza Nasreddine, founder of YouCycle; Yassine Ouarrach, founder of Jeem; Yasmine Ouf, co-founder of Yazine; and Zineb Bennouna, founder of Meet The Runners. They all share a common belief that sports can serve as a genuine vehicle for connection, culture, and community engagement within the city.
