National Security Mourns the Loss of Zitouni El Haïl

On Friday, August 21, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) announced the passing of Police Prefect Zitouni El Haïl, who previously served as the head of the Marrakech Police Prefecture and later as the Director of Public Security. He passed away on Thursday evening at the military hospital in Rabat, as stated in a DGSN press release.

Mr. El Haïl dedicated more than four decades to the national security sector, holding several significant responsibilities within the institution. The DGSN paid tribute to his _“remarkable”_ career and the _“distinguished services”_ he rendered to the national security family, the safety of the nation, and the well-being of its citizens through various roles he undertook.

A Distinguished Career from Marrakech to Public Security Leadership

Throughout his illustrious career, El Haïl notably led the Marrakech Police Prefecture, one of his last major territorial responsibilities. He subsequently took on the role of Director of Public Security within the DGSN, marking the culmination of his career in the institution. In its tribute, the DGSN emphasized that the senior official left an indelible mark through a distinguished professional journey spanning over four decades, where he undertook missions described as _“great works”_ in service of national security. The statement highlights that his career was characterized by significant responsibilities, including his leadership of the Marrakech Police Prefecture before his appointment to head public security.

The Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance extended, on his behalf and on behalf of all national security personnel, heartfelt condolences to the family of El Haïl Zitouni. He prayed that the deceased be _“welcomed into the vastness of His mercy”_ and that his loved ones find _“patience and comfort”_ in the wake of his passing.
