Leading the Jury
The jury panel, in addition to Tuba Büyüküstün, includes British director and writer Charlotte Regan, Alice Khrouby, program director and member of selection committees for both the Cannes and Red Sea festivals, and Daniela Stefan. In her role as jury president, Tuba will not only assess the competing films but will also deliver a keynote address as part of the festival's accompanying program. This appointment follows her previous judging experiences at the Red Sea Film Festival in 2024 and the Asia International Film Festival in Mumbai in 2025.
Tuba's selection as jury president coincides with her return to the cinema with the film "Sultana," which premiered on Prime Video on September 17. The film unfolds within a nightclub in Istanbul, illustrating themes of rivalry and conflict. However, her cinematic endeavors do not end with "Sultana." She is also gearing up for the release of the horror-thriller film "Sui," set to hit Turkish theaters on October 9. This film dives into a mysterious curse that spans generations, compelling characters to confront their past. It features an impressive cast, including Barış Arduç and Farah Zeynep Abdullah, with Maxim Alexander at the helm of direction.
Tuba's involvement in jury panels is not a new venture for her; she began her artistic career after studying theater and costume design at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University before stepping into the acting world in 2004. Since then, she has garnered immense popularity both within Turkey and internationally, transitioning seamlessly between television drama, cinema, and digital platforms while maintaining an active presence at international festivals.
