Determined Students Embark on a Humanitarian Adventure
In an inspiring tale of ambition and resilience, two students from Tarn, Lucie and Alicia, are gearing up for the Clio Tour 2026, a humanitarian raid that spans from Spain to Morocco. This adventure, blending athletic challenge with a commitment to solidarity, is set to commence on October 17. However, before they can embark on this journey in their retro Renault Clio, affectionately named 'La Déjantée', they must first tackle a significant hurdle: securing the necessary funding to support their endeavor.
The idea for this venture emerged from a spontaneous decision, with Lucie and Alicia expressing their excitement about the combination of adventure and altruism that the Clio Tour offers. For the past five months, they have been diligently preparing for this ten-day expedition, which will not only test their limits but also serve a greater purpose. Yet, as they dive deeper into their preparations, the harsh reality of fundraising has presented them with numerous challenges.
Overcoming Financial Hurdles
Despite their enthusiasm, the duo has encountered a series of rejections in their quest for sponsorship, often being met with the disheartening response that financial support is hard to come by due to the current economic climate. "It's not the most enjoyable part of our journey. We're facing many refusals and being told that the situation is complicated," they lament. Their goal is to raise between €6,000 and €7,000 to cover expenses, but thus far, they have only amassed €900, primarily from personal efforts and family contributions.
To bridge the financial gap, Lucie, hailing from Réalmont, and Alicia from Fréjairolles, are exploring every avenue. They are leveraging personal connections and reaching out to potential sponsors in hopes of securing additional funds. Initially focused on local businesses, they are now open to seeking support from companies beyond their immediate area, recognizing the pressing need to broaden their horizons in search of financial backing. "Given the circumstances, we're prepared to approach businesses outside our locality that might be interested in supporting our mission," they assert.
In a bid to minimize costs, the students have also adopted a resourceful approach. Their trusty Clio, a 1995 model acquired for just €400, is undergoing repairs, including bodywork, to ensure it can withstand the rigors of the journey. Lucie and Alicia's determination is unwavering, as they express their commitment to follow through with the raid, even if it means dipping into their savings. "We’ll make it happen, but support would certainly be appreciated, especially as we approach the end of our studies," they conclude, embodying the spirit of perseverance and community engagement.
