UAE Condemns Foiled Terrorist Plots in Morocco Linked to ISIS

UAE's Strong Condemnation of Terrorist Plots in Morocco

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has expressed its strong condemnation of the terrorist plots recently thwarted by Morocco, which were allegedly supported and planned by the Islamic State (ISIS). In a statement made on July 6, 2026, UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan denounced these plans, highlighting their severe threat to public order and the safety of individuals and property in Morocco. He emphasized that these schemes were executed with logistical coordination and operational support from the ISIS branch operating in the Sahel region.

Sheikh Abdullah reaffirmed the UAE's solidarity with Morocco, pledging support for all measures taken to ensure the country's security and stability. He made it clear that the UAE firmly rejects all forms of terrorism and extremism, underlining the necessity of enhancing regional and international cooperation to confront and combat such threats effectively.

Details of the Foiled Terrorist Threats

Earlier on the same day, Moroccan authorities announced the successful thwarting of highly dangerous terrorist plots that were in advanced stages of preparation. According to the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation in Morocco, these plans posed a significant risk to public safety and were orchestrated by extremists working in coordination with the ISIS affiliate in the African Sahel region. The Moroccan security forces carried out simultaneous interventions and arrests across multiple cities, including Agadir, Taroudant, Casablanca, and others. This operation led to the detention of ten suspected extremists believed to be involved in this terrorist initiative, which had connections across various Moroccan cities.
