UAE Defense Sector to Make a Splash at Marrakech Airshow

The Emirati defense industry is gearing up for a significant presence at the upcoming Marrakech Airshow, scheduled from October 7 to 10, 2026. This event will see key players such as EDGE and several other prominent groups convening under a national pavilion to showcase their cutting-edge technologies to military delegations and international buyers. The announcement regarding the pavilion's composition was made on October 3 by the Emirates News Agency (WAM), revealing that companies like Generation 5 Holding, Multi Level Group, and Resource Industries will also be part of this important exhibition. Their focus will span a range of advanced technologies, including defense systems, aviation, autonomous platforms, and other high-tech innovations.

This initiative is backed by the Emirati Ministry of Defense along with the Tawazun Council for Defense Enablement, ensuring robust support for the participating companies. The ADNEC Group is responsible for organizing the pavilion, which aims to facilitate direct interactions between these businesses and government representatives, military officials, and potential industrial partners. The UAE's participation in Marrakech is part of a broader strategy to explore new markets and foster cooperation in defense and aerospace sectors, highlighting their ambition to expand their international footprint.

Building Partnerships and Future Prospects

The Marrakech Airshow represents a pivotal opportunity for the UAE to seek new avenues for their defense industry products. In addition to Emirati participants, other defense manufacturers such as Israel Aerospace Industries are also looking to establish local partnerships and promote technology transfers during the event. This collaborative spirit underscores the growing interest in enhancing defense capabilities across the region.

EDGE's return to the Marrakech Airshow follows its successful participation in 2024, where the company unveiled a range of innovative products including guided weapons, autonomous drones, and advanced air defense systems. This year, they are expected to present the SKYKNIGHT air defense system and various precision ammunition families, along with a strong emphasis on unmanned platforms like the GARMOOSHA rotary-wing drone. Two years ago, EDGE's general manager, Hamad Al Marar, expressed the desire to establish a lasting relationship with Morocco, and this latest participation signifies a commitment to deepen ties and broaden the scope of collaboration beyond military equipment to encompass aerospace technologies as well.

The Airshow will take place at the Royal Moroccan Air Forces base in Marrakech, providing a platform for Emirati companies to exhibit their capabilities and engage with foreign delegations over the course of four days. This event will not only serve as a venue for showcasing innovations but will also provide a chance to promote future defense exhibitions in the UAE, including the IDEX and NAVDEX land and naval defense shows, as well as the international defense conference IDC, all scheduled for 2027.
