UEMF Ranks First in Morocco and 323rd Globally
The Euro-Mediterranean University of Fes (UEMF) has secured an impressive first place ranking in Morocco and 323rd globally among universities from 110 countries, as part of the 2026 edition of the "UI GreenMetric" international ranking for sustainable universities. This achievement underscores UEMF's commitment to a developmental model that merges academic excellence, research, innovation, environmental responsibility, international openness, and the quality of the university environment. The "UI GreenMetric" ranking is one of the foremost international classifications dedicated to assessing the sustainability of higher education institutions, evaluating universities on various dimensions related to teaching, research, infrastructure, energy, water management, waste management, mobility, and governance.
A Trajectory of International Recognition
This recent accolade is part of a broader dynamic that reflects the qualitative leap in the standing of the Euro-Mediterranean University of Fes in several prestigious international rankings. UEMF noted its ranking among global universities for 2026 (RUR), leading in Morocco, and achieving second place in Africa in the previous edition, following the University of Cape Town in South Africa. Furthermore, the university's name featured prominently in the Times Higher Education ranking for 2026, where it secured second place nationally and was classified within the 401-600 global range. This trajectory is further affirmed by the "ScholarGPS" system, which ranks UEMF first nationally, as well as "U-Multirank," where the university excelled in training and research, being listed among the top 25 universities worldwide for student mobility, according to the same source. In terms of scientific research, the university announced that eight faculty researchers from UEMF were included in the 2025 Stanford-Elsevier ranking of the top 2% of the most influential scientists globally, indicating the quality of research produced at the university, both in quantity and quality. These results highlight a continuous path that combines academic quality, scientific research, community impact, and sustainable development. The Euro-Mediterranean University of Fes is a non-profit and public benefit institution accredited by the Union for the Mediterranean, supported by its member states (43 countries), and enjoys the honorary presidency of its founder, King Mohammed VI.
