National Union Engages with Health Authorities on Security Guards' Status

The National Office of the National Union of Private Security, Cleaning, and Cooking Workers has announced that the union's General Secretary held a communication meeting with the Regional Directorate of Health and Social Protection to discuss recent developments concerning private security guards employed in healthcare institutions in the Fès-Meknes region. This dialogue aims to address the implications of new regulations affecting these workers and ensure their rights are safeguarded.

In a statement received by “le maroc 35,” the union office clarified that the new conditions outlined during this meeting are part of a national ministerial decision. The specific categories of guards eligible for exemption from their duties within healthcare facilities include those who have previously served in the Royal Armed Forces or other official bodies, particularly those who already receive a pension and health coverage. Additionally, guards who have surpassed the legal working age and those who do not meet the new educational requirements corresponding to the ninth-grade level are also included in this exemption.

The National Office firmly rejected any retroactive application of these conditions to guards who have dedicated many years, some exceeding two decades, to serving hospitals. They emphasized the necessity of preserving these workers' positions and ensuring their social stability remains intact.

The statement further noted that the union has been informed of a preliminary agreement between the management and the contracting company aimed at finding alternative job placements for those who do not meet the new criteria. This measure is designed to prevent the displacement of employees and to protect their livelihoods.

In this context, the National Office, represented by the General Secretary, has continued direct communication with the company’s management, which has shown a positive response to the union's demands and expressed its commitment to finding solutions that uphold workers' rights without terminating the guards' employment. The union expressed gratitude to the management of LPS for their responsible approach and positive engagement, reiterating its determination to monitor the implementation of these commitments in practice.

Moreover, the National Office continues to hold discussions with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in an effort to reverse this decision or to establish a legal and administrative framework that ensures the stability of all security guards in their positions without exclusion or discrimination.

The National Office urges all security guards in public hospitals within the Fès-Meknes region to refrain from leaving their posts under any circumstances. They are advised against signing any resignations, waivers, or documents that may infringe upon their rights. Furthermore, the guards are encouraged to maintain communication with union representatives and to avoid succumbing to rumors or unofficial news. It is emphasized that any official updates will be communicated promptly through the union's official channels, ensuring that all members are kept informed about this matter.
